2000 Annual Report Highlights
Michael CostaIn 2000 the Labor Council and its affiliates lead
the nation in the shift towards an organising culture. As part of this
transition the Labor Council's rules were amended at the Annual General Meeting
in February 2000, to establish the Organising Committee as the key committee in
the development of organising strategies for the Council. [

John RobertsonJohn Robertson's responsibilities as Assistant
Secretary have included the building and construction industry, breweries, local
government, warehouse and distribution, major disputes, the oil industry, the
Roads and Traffic Authority and the Department of Public Works and Services.

Chris ChristodolouOver the last twelve months Chris' prime
responsibility has been to continue the co-ordination of union activities around
the Olympic Games. During the year Chris assisted in the equal pay application,
the State Wage Case, and the establishment of the Organising Committee and
associated campaign activities. [

Mark LennonThe Olympic Reassignment Award was a highlight of the
work that Deputy Assistant Secretary (Industrial), Mark Lennon performed in
2000. The Award provided sufficient flexibility to meet the needs of games
organisers whilst at the same time protecting employees' basic conditions. [

Alison PetersAlison Peters was elected unopposed as Deputy
Assistant Secretary (Community Affairs) in September following the resignation
of Naomi Steer. Alison commenced work with Labor Council in November. [
