Has the Internet become a shark pit?
Have issues such as spam, fraud, offensive material, spyware and viruses become more prevalent, eroding confidence in the medium? To realise its potential the Internet should be perceived as a safe and user friendly environment. This policy forum is presented by the ALP IT and Communications Committee and will discuss the role Government can play in building community confidence in the Internet. Hear a range of speakers including; Hon. John Della Bosca, Minister for Commerce; Peter Coroneos, Executive Director of the Internet Industry Association; Danny Yee, Board Member of Electronic Frontiers; Suzanne Shipard, Manager Content Assessment at the ABA; and Simon Edwards, Manager - Government and Industry Affairs, Microsoft.
