Globalisation and Minimum Wage Systems

Minimum wage laws are a common feature of industrial relations systems in many countries

It is rare for those minimum wages to be set at adequate levels however. The forces of globalisation have put pressure on the existing minimum wage systems in both the developing countries and the advanced countries. This paper examines that pressure, identifies weaknesses in existing systems and concludes with a modest proposal to make minimum wage systems more effective
