What Future For the Left? Towards a Red-Green Politics

By Frank Stilwell

There seems to be a lack of momentum on the left. Neo-liberalism is becoming increasingly strident, and has succeeding stripping away many progressive reforms campaigned for over many years.

The result is a more individualistic and unequal society. There are many groups opposed to these trends, but they do not seem able to combine or develop a coherent strategy.

Stilwell does no claim to have "the answer" but rather sees a way forward in difficult circumstances. This would be by the means of combing the "socialist" and "green" traditions. This fusion should help us develop a new politics. He seeks to address important analytical, strategic and organisational challenges inherent in this fusion process. A values revolution, as Jack Mundey, the exemplary figure who has been urging this approach for more than thirty years, puts it.
