Amendments to National Occupational Health and Safety Act

The level of penalties under the Occupational Health and Safety (Commonwealth Employment) Act 1991 (Cth) have been substantially increased.

The maximum penalty for the employers breach of duty of care is being raised from $100,000 to $242,000 for a civil breach and $495,000 for a criminal breach.
