Members of Foreign Origin and Young Members Show Marked Interest in Trade Union Assignments (delegate and committee positions
By LO
12 per cent of the LO members have trade union assignments. The most common assignments are safety delegate, member of board and union representative.
Twice as many members as today, who have trade union assignments, may consider the possibility of assuming an assignment, if asked. Members of foreign origin and members under the age of 30 show especially great interest in assuming assignments.
These facts appear from the third report of the series "Opinions on unions and work". More than 5 000 members have been interviewed by phone regarding, among other things, trade union activities, interest in trade union work, and attitudes towards trade union-political co-operation. In the report, comparisons are made with previous inquiries in 1988, 1993, 1998 and 2002.
