Barry Johnson

Barry Johnson

Position: Vice President

Barry was elected as a Vice President of Labor Council in March 2002.

Barry is the General Secretary of the NSW Teachers Federation, a position he has held since February 2002. Barry started full-time work with the Federation in 1982 and has held the positions of Country Organiser, Assistant General Secretary (Schools) and now General Secretary.

Barry trained as a primary teacher at Newcastle Teachers College and holds a degree from the University of New England. From 1967 to 1982 Barry worked as a teacher at Bingara Central School, Belmont High School and Francis Greenway High School.

In addition to his duties with the Federation and Labor Council, Barry is the Public Officer of Teachers Federation Health Ltd, a Director of the Teachers Club Ltd, a Director of Stewart House Preventorium and a member of the Labor Council's Wireless Committee.
