Amanda Tattersall
Position: Deputy Assistant Secretary
Background Amanda joined the Labor Council in October 2002. Amanda's work canvases the diverse issues of union/community campaigning. A significant part of her work is focused on cultural diversity, and working with NESB workers. Amanda helped establish the Workers with a Disability Alliance, where trade unions and disability advocacy groups are working together to support and unionise disabled workers in business services and open employment. Amanda played a significant role in the recent peace movement in Sydney, co-ordinating trade union involvement in that campaign. Previous she helped establish and convene Labor for Refugees. Amanda is now working on Labor Council's activist register, which alerts union members to upcoming labor movement and social movement actions. Prior to joining Labor Council Amanda was a Policy Officer for Meredith Burgmann, President of the Legislative Council and a tutor in Politics at the University of Technology. She was the President of the National Union of Students in 1999. Amanda holds honours degrees in Arts and Law from the University of Technology Sydney.
