Marilyn Issanchon
Position: Vice President
Background Marilyn was elected Vice President of the Labor Council of NSW in 2004. Marilyn has been an active and loyal member of the National Union of Workers New South Wales Branch for over 10 years, when she returned to the workforce after raising her children. Her first job when she returned to the workforce was a storeperson at Berlei Distribution Centre at Rydalmere. When Berlei relocated, Marilyn then worked at various sites as a casual employed through an employment agency. These sites included K-Mart and Grace Bros., where she was offered a limited tenure position for three years. On the closure of Grace Bros. Marilyn was offered a full time position as a storeperson at Coles Myer Huntingwood where she was the site delegate for approximately 5 years. Marilyn ensured that the Huntingwood site was a closed shop. Marilyn has since left Coles Myer in order to be a recruitment officer with the Union. Over the past 8 years, Marilyn has worked as a support person with under privileged adolescent and has a degree in Community Welfare. Marilyn was elected as the Vice President of the National Union of Workers New South Wales Branch in 2002, was then appointed as the Acting President and then President of the Union in 2003.
